Deborah Yates

Conjoint Professor Deborah Yates is a respiratory physician with a longstanding special interest in rare lung diseases, particularly lymphangioleiomyomatosis (LAM). She trained in Medicine at Cambridge University and emigrated to Australia after completing her doctorate in asthma and exhaled breath analysis at the Royal Brompton Hospital in London.

Deborah  has been involved in taking care of women with LAM and in LAM research for over 25 years at St Vincent’s Hospital and University of New South Wales. Currently, she runs the LAM Clinic at Macquarie University Hospital in Sydney. As a female doctor, she has had long experience in supporting women with respiratory disease and enabling their access to specialised, personalised healthcare. She has held several leadership roles and participated in several advisory boards including the TSC Alliance. She also holds qualifications in Occupational Medicine and has been actively involved in advocacy in this area, aiming to prevent avoidable lung disease and improve treatment outcomes in both women’s and men’s health.

Deborah continues in active clinical respiratory practice and aims to support and assist those who suffer from lung disorders.
